Director Sidney Lumet Dies at 86

Sidney Lumet
, the acclaimed director of 'Network' and '12 Angry Men,' has passed away at the age of 86.

According to The New York Times, Lumet's stepdaughter Leslie Kimbel said the cause of death was lymphoma.

Music producer Quincy Jones spoke on the passing of Lumet saying, "I am absolutely devastated at the news of the passing of my dear friend Sidney Lumet. Sidney gave me my start in film composing in 1963 with 'The Pawnbroker' and I was privileged to work with him on four additional films including 'The Wiz.'

Over his expansive career, Lumet was nominated for five Academy Awards for 'The Verdict,' '12 Angry Men,' 'Dog Day Afternoon,' 'Network,' and 'Prince of the City.' His last film was 'Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead' starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
