It's official! Monaco has a new princess as reigning Prince Albert II has tied the knot with his South African fiancée Charlene Wittstock, despite last-minute rumors that Wittstock would be a runaway bride.

The 53-year-old son of late Hollywood star and Princess Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III wed the 33-year-old, one-time Olympic swimmer in a civil ceremony as crowds swarmed the plaza outside the palace hoping for a glimpse of the newlyweds.

According to the Associated Press, Wittstock wore a silken blue jacket with ankle-length pants created by Chanel for the civil ceremony.

A more elaborate religious ceremony and star-studded wedding gala, featuring a concert performance by Jean Michele Jarre, will be held on Saturday.
