Kim Kardashian is opening up about her fairy-tale wedding to Kris Humphries, saying the star-studded event achieved a "heavenly" balance of tradition and over-the-top glamour.

In the latest edition of People magazine, hitting newsstands Friday, Kim said the wedding lived up to her high expectations in every way. "It was like we were in heaven," she tells the magazine in a cover story that also includes an exclusive photo album from the weekend wedding held in Montecito, CA.

Kim said the lavish affair -- which will be fully documented in a two-part special to air on the E! network Oct. 9 and 10 -- made her feel "like a princess." But she added: "Glam aside, that wasn't our main goal. It was really about our family and each other."

Wedding planner Sharon Sacks told People that both Kim and Kris love wearing black and white, the designated theme colors of the wedding. "They have this Hollywood royalty feeling and the black and white represented formality. But tradition was very important to them."

Kris told the magazine what will stand out in his mind from the ceremony: "I'm going to remember how perfect it was."
