Chad Michael Murray Turns Author

When it comes to multi-hyphenates, Chad Michael Murray is right up there with the big boys. Best known as an actor, he has also directed and written episodic television as well as performed on feature film soundtracks. Now, the One Tree Hill star -- who is returning to The CW show for a one-off appearance in early 2012 -- has just released a short story, Flight of the Cormorant: An Everlast Story.

"For the last eight years I’ve loved and grown with this story," Murray says of Everlast, his graphic novel which spawned the short. "It came to me after meeting a man who showed up on my doorstep in Wilmington, NC. I really hope everyone enjoys it."

Fans can now get their hands on Cormorant since it just became available for download on Murray's website with 100 percent of the proceeds going to three charities close to Murray's heart. Fans can vote on their charity of choice by tweeting #EverlastCharity with their favorite.

"Hunters Hope is a local charity from my hometown of Buffalo, NY," Murray tells ETonline. "I’ve worked with them for years and they are very close to my heart. It was Founded by Hall of Fame and Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly, who's son Hunter Kelly passed away from Krabbe's disease. Their mission is to raise awareness about universal newborn screening and to give our children a better chance at a normal life."

"The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation is an amazing organization and I feel fortunate that I am able to attend their events and learn about the cause. There are enough obstacles in a kid’s way already without living with HIV or full-blown AIDS. The transmission of the virus to beautiful, young children needs to be stopped," he says.

"To Write Love on her Arms (TWLOHA) is a socially important non-profit that started virally from a story written by founder Jamie Tworkowski," he tells us. "It aids in bringing more awareness and council to self mutilators and addicts. I was blessed to be involved in a film version of this story (slated for release in 2012). It's really something special."

Everlast -- which tells the story of the tragic hero, Derek Everlast, as he follows his journey to save the world before the ‘End of Days' -- will be released in stores and online this November! But fans in New York City can get an early look at the graphic novel as Murray will be signing copies at Barnes & Noble (86th & Lexington) this Friday, October 14th at 7 p.m. and at this weekend's New York Comic-Con!
