After two months of marriage, Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce from New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, citing "irreconcilable differences."

"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage," Kardashian said in a statement to E! News. "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

Kardashian and Humphries, who became engaged after just six months of dating, married in a lavish wedding ceremony in Montecito, CA in August.

Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, the two-part, four-hour wedding special on E!, was watched by more than 4.4 million viewers.

"All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time," E! said in a statement.
