Oprah's BF Gayle King Leaving OWN to Join CBS

Oprah Winfrey's best friend Gayle King is leaving the media mogul's OWN network to join a new CBS morning show.

CBS announced Tuesday that King would team up with fellow hosts Charlie Rose and Erica Hill for a new program to replace the ratings-challenged Early Show. The last episode of The Gayle King Show will air Thursday.

Oprah's OWN cable network, which launched at the first of this year but has struggled to attract projected ratings targets. The network has so far brought in fewer viewers than its predecessor, Discovery Health.

A rep for OWN gave this statement to ET: "We are so happy for Gayle's opportunity of a lifetime. She'll be a fantastic host for the new morning show on CBS and we wish her all the best. Although her show will not continue on OWN, we look forward to her joining us from time-to-time as her schedule allows."
