Terrence Howard's wife has filed a restraining order today against the actor due to life threatening claims he allegedly made, something that Howard vehemently denies.

In court papers obtained by ET, Michelle Ghent claimed that Howard threatened to throw her off a balcony at a hotel in Johannesburg, among other incidents. She also alleged that he physically abused her when he "slugged me across my face and neck" only seven days into their marriage.

Howard filed legal papers of his own in response, denying ever threatening his estranged wife. He also claims that she's trying to damage his reputation and is threatening to release private materials to third parties unless she receives monetary compensation.

Howard and Ghent got married in January 2010 and she filed for divorce February of this year.
