Hugh Jackman to Play Houdini on Broadway
Tony-winning actor Hugh Jackman will continue his run on Broadway in 2013 with a new musical about magician Harry Houdini, according to EW.
“I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young,” Jackman divulged to EW, “and in many ways I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life.”
The musical, to be named Houdini, will focus on the 20th-century illusionist’s encounter with three women who shot to fame after claiming that they could communicate with the dead.
Jackman returned to Broadway in October 2011 with a self-entitled show called Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, which featured the 43-year-old singing songs and sharing personal stories.
Houdini will be composed by six-time Tony-winning composer Stephen Schwartz, who has composed Wicked and Godspell as well.
