Oprah Comments on the Death of Whitney Houston

Oprah Winfrey conducted one of the most in-depth interviews with Whitney Houston in 2009, and she came to the singer's defense on Sunday via Twitter.

"To me, Whitney was THE VOICE," Oprah tweeted this morning. "We got to hear a part of God every time she sang. Heart is heavy, spirit grateful for the GIFT of her."

Oprah later responded to a message from one of her followers who condemned Oprah for praising Whitney in light of her history with drug abuse.

"What I know for sure: God is Love. Love does not condemn," Oprah shot back at the man who calls himself a reverend in his Twitter handle. "I didn't know God was in the drug law business."

Whitney Houston passed away on Saturday night at the age of 48. The Beverly Hills Police Department has not revealed any information relating her passing with substance abuse.
