Eyewitness Account of Brandy's Whitney Breakdown

Singer/actress Brandy, a friend of Whitney Houston, was one of the first to learn of the icon's demise at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday. An eyewitness described to ET how Brandy broke down in the hallway outside of Whitney's room on the night of her death.

"[Brandy] just was pretty much by herself, standing, crying," said fitness model Timothy Dance, 30, who was staying roughly four doors down from Whitney's hotel room at the time. "There were people standing away from her. I was expecting to see Ray J, but obviously he was still in the room maybe."

Following Whitney's death, Brandy gave this statement to ET: "My heart is destroyed. I lost my idol and dear friend. My prayers go out to Whitney's family and her millions of fans around the world. Whitney -- the greatest voice of all time -- you are my angel and I will always and forever love you."

Timothy had just met Whitney, Ray J and Bobbi Kristina the Friday night before Whitney's passing. Ray J, Brandy's brother, was rumored to have been dating Whitney -- an allegation that Timothy didn't find impossible.

"It seemed like they were a couple," said Timothy.

The L.A. County Coroner's office is awaiting toxicology results in order to determine an official cause of death for Whitney, which could take several weeks. The star will be laid to rest this Saturday at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ, which is the same location where her father is buried.
