Julianna Studied Scandals for 'Good Wife' Role

Julianna Margulies -- whose character on The Good Wife has to deal with the humiliation of her politician husband's sex and corruption scandal -- says she can't understand how the wives of real-life politicians can appear alongside their spouses when they publicly confess their wrongdoing.

In an interview with More magazine, Margulies recalls watching press conferences in the wake of the political sex scandals involving Eliot Spitzer and Jim McGreevey and being appalled that their wives attended. "I remember thinking, get off the stage! I couldn't believe the women were gullible enough to get up there, and I couldn't believe that the men could be such assh*les as to ask."

The actress -- who in real life is married to Keith Lieberthal and has a four-year-old son -- tells the magazine she's not sure if she could stand by her man if her marriage suffered an affair crisis. "I don't know if I could do it, because I think I'd be playing [the betrayal] in my head the whole time," she said.
