Jordin Chooses Between 'X Factor' and 'The Voice'

By

Jordin Sparks, Vanessa Hudgens, The Jonas Brothers and Modern Family's Sarah Hyland were among the honorees at Variety's Power of Youth Awards at Paramount Studios in Hollywood this Saturday, where Jordin admitted she would rather be on The Voice than The X Factor despite close ties to Simon Cowell from her season six American Idol win.

"I like X Factor because you can be any type of talent, and you can be any age, [but] The Voice is definitely more about just singing so I'd probably do The Voice because that's what my talent is," she admits. "And I like the button, and having to fight for them, and you getting to decide who your mentor is ... I think that's really interesting. Although I do love Simon, so Simon don't hate me for saying that!," she jokes.

Jordin was honored with a Power of Youth Philanthropy Award for her charity I'm M.A.D. Are You?, a campaign that motivates others to find something they're passionate about and funnel that energy into charity work.

"Well for me personally, even before American Idol, my mom and dad were really big on giving back," Jordin explains. " ... What is everything I'm doing, and the platform that I have, if I'm not using it for good, if I'm not helping to help change the world, and change other people's lives?"
