Dennis Quaid's Wife Re-Files for Split

Dennis Quaid's wife Kimberly has filed for a legal separation -- six months after withdrawing divorce papers in a bid to try to save her marriage.

According to court papers obtained by ET that were filed on Friday, Kimberly Kathryn Quaid seeks the legal separation due to "irreconcilable differences." As petitioner in the filing, Kimberly also seeks joint legal custody of the couple's five-year-old twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace

The star's rep, Lisa Kasteler, confirms to ET,  "Kimberly and Dennis Quaid have decided to legally separate after eight years of marriage. They ask that their privacy and the privacy of their family be respected during this difficult time. No further statement will be given."

Kimberly, a former real estate agent -- initially filed for divorce in March, explaining in court papers that the marriage had "become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities." But a month later she withdrew the divorce papers so the couple could work on their marriage.

The couple married in 2004 and in November 2007 Kimberly gave birth to the twins. It was the third marriage for Quaid, who was married to Meg Ryan from 1991 to 2001, and actress P.J. Soles from to 1978 to 1983.
