Prince William stepped out without his pregnant wife Kate Middleton last night to attend the London premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

William told his guests at the screening that Kate would have "loved" to have accompanied him to the event, according to People magazine.

The prince was photographed at the premiere with the theater's general manager Tessa Street, who told him she had inquired about his wife. "I passed on my best wishes to Kate and he said, 'She would have loved to have been here if she could,'" Street said.

The Palace announced last week that The Duchess of Cambridge was
pregnant and required hospitalization to recover from acute morning
sickness. She was released from the hospital last week after a three-day stay.
