Bill Clinton Named Father of the Year

Bill Clinton has been named 2013 Father of the Year by the National Father's Day Council for his philanthropic activities benefitting children around the world.

The award will be presented at the 72nd Annual Father of the Year Awards in New York City on Tuesday, June 11 -- the Tuesday before Father's Day.

The National Father's Day Council said through his William J. Clinton Foundation, the former U.S. president has "brought together global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues."

He was also recognized for his efforts to assist Haiti after a series of hurricanes in 2008, as well as that country's devastating earthquake in 2010.

President Clinton, 66, is married to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, 65, and they have one daughter, Chelsea, 32.
