Michael Buble and his wife Luisana Lopilato are expecting their first child this year, and the 37-year-old crooner revealed to ET Canada how much he wanted a baby.

"I went and got tested, because I was sure it wasn't going to work," Buble disclosed to ET Canada's Erin Cebula.

Thankfully, the couple (who wed in March 2011) was able to announce their pregnancy via YouTube in January.

Buble described his current mood as not "freaked out" but he's also "not ready." "But who knows who is ready," Buble argued.

Besides the joy in anticipating his baby's birth, it turns out there are even more upsides to the pregnancy news.

"I'm more in love with my wife now than I ever was," said Buble, explaining how he expects to keep the romance going when they're sharing the house with a screaming baby.

On his upcoming album To Be Loved, the crooner carries an uncharacteristically soulful sound. He says that he challenged himself "to go to a place that was probably too scary for [him] to go before, because [he] was too afraid of what people would think about a 'white boy' singing this stuff."

To Be Loved will be made available April 23.
