Bobby Brown Released From Jail After 8 Hours
Bobby Brown was released from jail just eight hours after turning himself in and is now wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle.
The singer, 44, surrendered to police at a Los Angeles courthouse Wednesday morning to begin a 55-day jail sentence for driving under the influence and was released later in the evening, Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials told the Los Angeles Times.
Authorities estimated earlier that Brown would likely serve no more than nine days in county jail because of overcrowding issues. Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore would not disclose the exact restrictions currently imposed on Brown, but he said that inmates typically cannot travel outside their homes during the time they are being monitored.

Brown previously pleaded no contest to DUI and driving on a suspended license in February after he was arrested in October of 2012. In addition to jail time, he was placed on four years of informal probation and was required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous sessions each week.
This is Brown's second DUI conviction in less than a year -- he also pleaded no contest to another charge of driving under the influence in connection with an arrest in March 2012.
