Selena Gomez addressed her on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber on Good Morning America Friday, confirming that despite rumors of a reunion, the two are currently not together.

Before performing her hit single Come & Get It for GMA's Summer Concert Series, she surprisingly answered a usually off-limits question about the Biebs, explaining why the two are still able to remain friends even after breaking up.

"That's because he and I have such a history together," she told GMA's Sam Champion and Lara Spencer. "And I'll always care about him, and protect him if anyone tries to be mean."

She also revealed her usual birthday plan after recently turning 21, and what she's really like behind closed doors -- apparently, her life isn't as glamorous as one might think.

"Usually my friends set up a surprise birthday party at my house so I'm just at home, watching movies, usually sleeping or dancing -- either one of those," she revealed.

Though she now has even more reason to celebrate -- her new album Stars Dance is opening at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, which marks Gomez's very first number one album.
