In its Random Acts of mtvU: VMA Edition program, extraordinary college students will not only get a surprise message from some of the biggest names in the business, but get a once in a lifetime VMA experience with performer Katy Perry, courtesy of Pepsi and mtvU; a Best Buy shopping spree; and Windows Phones to create visual interpretations of VMA-nominated songs. Each segment will premiere on MTV and subsequently run on mtvU.

Beginning on Sunday, August 18, the program debuts with the story of Reynolds, Dobens and Brenner, who printed the Boston Strong motto on thousands of t-shirts in the immediate wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. Hoping to sell 100 t-shirts, they ended up selling 57,000, raising nearly $1 million for The One Fund, which was set up to assist survivors of the attack.
