Ian Ziering on Fatherhood, Chippendales Gig

On the heels of being named Daddy of the Year, ET caught up with former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Ian Ziering to find out what parenthood's been like for him and how his Chippendales gig came about.

Ziering recently added another little one to his family in April, when his wife gave birth to their second daughter, Penna. The 49-year-old actor must be a natural at fatherhood, as he was recently selected as Daddy of the Year by DaddyScrubs.com for his dedication to his family.

"It really just makes me think of my own father and the way I grew up and the way I was raised," Ziering said of the award. "I'm just trying to pay it forward."

As for how he manages to rear his children through his busy career—which sometimes requires him to be away from his family for extended periods of time—while also being a good husband, Ziering says he takes a no-nonsense approach.

"Failure is not an option," the Sharknado actor said. "So, we're committed to the success of not just our relationship but to raising two amazing girls. ... It's dedication. We've anchored ourselves to a foundation of accountability and we've set out to be successful at this, so we're going to do it. As a father and a provider, no stone goes unturned."

In addition to his acting career and responsibilities as a father and husband, Ziering also undertook a guest gig with the famous dancing troupe Chippendales for a month over the summer. He explained how the engagement came about and how he eventually ended up performing in the show.

"At first, it was just come in and introduce...every act and number that they would have, but when I got there, I'm like, 'I want to be more a part of the show. I want to sing; I want to dance. Let's make it happen!'"
