Philip Seymour Hoffman At 'Mr. Ripley' Premiere

Following the tragic death of renowned actor Philip Seymour Hoffman early Sunday morning, ET is celebrating the actor's critically acclaimed body of work by looking back at our past interviews with the Oscar-winning actor.

The 1999 crime drama The Talented Mr. Ripley, which starred Mat Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, Hoffman delivered an intensely memorable and scene-stealing performance as Freddie Miles.

At the premiere for the film, a young Hoffman was signing autographs and greeting fans before stopping to talk with ET about how he watches the audiences in movie theaters to see how they are reacting to the film.
