America Ferrera Talks Crazy Cannes Red-Carpet Incident
By David Weiner
It appears that the dragons were more trained than the humans at Cannes Friday... A man jumped and hid under How To Train Your Dragon 2 star America Ferrera's poofy Georges Hobeika gown during the film's premiere, causing commotion as security quickly dove in and dragged the prankster away. Watch the video for the wild scene (the event happens right at the one-minute mark)...
Ferrera was flanked by co-stars Cate Blanchett, Kit Harrington, Djimon Hounsou and Jay Baruchel, who were also thrown by the unexpected stunt.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the man responsible for the impropriety turned out to be none other than Vitalii Sediuk, the Ukrainian journalist who was slapped by Will Smith after he attempted to kiss the star at the Men in Black III Moscow premiere; interrupted Adele's Best Solo Pop Performance acceptance speech at the 2013 Grammys before presenter Jennifer Lopez cut him off; and hugged Bradley Cooper in the crotch at the SAG Awards red carpet in January.
Ferrera commented on the scary red carpet incident to Vulture on Friday, clearly bewildered by the events.
"I don't even know what happened! I feel something behind me, and there's this guy under my dress, and then two guys drag him away!" she said. "Of all of the things I prepared myself for, that was not one of them."
But on a serious note, the 30-year-old actress did agree with the magazine that the incident felt "violating."
Perhaps it's time to take the leash off the dragon and put it on Vitalii Sediuk... How To Train Your Dragon 2 flies into theaters June 13.
