Vitalii Sediuk, who was arrested for jostling Brad Pitt at the Maleficent premiere last Wednesday in Hollywood, Calif., is speaking out for the first time regarding the incident.

Sediuk, 25, who has become notorious for his red carpet pranks -- including jumping under America Ferrera's dress at the How to Train Your Dragon 2 premiere at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, and attempting to take the Grammy trophy from Adele in 2013 -- told the Associated Press that he was actually trying to hug Pitt, and didn't mean him any harm.

"So, I am a normal guy. I am not crazy. I do this for entertainment, but we can make a lot of stories out of one simple incident, or a prank," he told the AP. " ... So there's so much we can talk about the prank, and why I do it. But, as I say: My primary purpose is entertainment, fun and, obviously, not hating, offending someone, or putting in a crazy position."

As for what he would say to the celebrities he's approached, he said that they should be "thankful" that he showed them how easy it is to get access to them, and that they might need to tighten their security.

"I would say to them, 'Don't get offended at me. Don't get mad at me. And just to be thankful that I show it's easy to get access to you and maybe you have to tighten security, and maybe you have to talk to people in a different way -- maybe to be more cautious,'" he said. "Obviously, I don't want to say, 'Don't talk to fans.' But maybe cautious."

Sediuk pleaded no contest to battery against Pitt on Friday and was sentenced to three years of probation and one year of psychiatric counseling. He’s also been barred from attending any red-carpet or celebrity events.

As for what's next for the Ukrainian journalist, he says he would like to remain in the entertainment field -- either as a movie director, appearing in a reality show or continuing working as a journalist -- "if anyone will hire him."
