Michael Jace, best known for his work playing a police officer on the cop drama The Shield, is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to be arraigned on murder charges, according to The Associated Press.

Police arrested Jace on May 19 after the actor allegedly shot his wife, track and field athlete April Jace, several times at the couple's home in Los Angeles. According to police, their two young children were home at the time of the incident, but were not harmed and are now living with relatives.

No motive has yet been released by investigators, and Jace's lawyers have cautioned that the investigation is still in its early stages.
