Actor Anwan Glover, best known for playing gang member Slim Charles on the hit HBO drama The Wire, was the victim of a violent attack at a nightclub in Washington D.C. early Sunday morning.
According to the Washington Post, Glover said in a police report that he had been at Café Asia when someone punched him. Glover says he then turned to face the person who had hit him when another assailant hit Glover in the back of the head, causing him to fall.
Glover told police that he was kicked several times while on the ground, and was then stabbed by one of his attackers. Glover was rushed to the hospital and treated for his injuries, including a laceration on his torso and some severe bruising.
D.C. police are still looking for the perpetrators and investigating the incident.
Glover has had a long history of campaigning against gang violence and volunteering with anti-violence organizations. When he was growing up in Columbia Heights, a neighborhood in Washington D.C., he was reportedly shot 13 times.
Aside from The Wire, Glover has also appeared in 12 Years A Slave and the HBO series Treme, among other projects.
