Gayle accepted and posted an Instagram video of her daughter Kirby pouring the ice bucket over her head.

She says in the caption, "Looks like my favorite daughter Kirby enjoyed this a little too much."

Oprah went on Facebook to share her ice bucket pour from none other than best friend Gayle herself.

The ALS Ice Bucket challenge has gone viral. It encourages people to pour buckets of ice on their heads and donate money for ALS research, and it is working. According to the ALS web site, "Between July 29 and today, August 12, The ALS Association and its 38 chapters have received an astonishing $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million during the same time period last year."

President and CEO of The ALS Association, Barbara Newhouse says, "We have never seen anything like this in the history of the disease. We couldn't be more thrilled with the level of compassion, generosity and sense of humor that people are exhibiting as they take part in this impactful viral initiative."

Many celebrities have participated in the challenge including Adam Levine, Justin Timberlake, Carrie Underwood, Kerry Washington and Taylor Swift. The best part is that when people challenge their friends, the awareness continues to grow.

ALS Awareness is especially close to Nancy as her mother passed away from the disease. When she took the challenge, her ET family joined her. Watch the video below to see Nancy and the ET team get iced.
