Taylor Swift not only smashed records with her fifth studio album 1989 this year, but she successfully changed her former image as a possibly boy-crazy serial dater into an empowering woman all about her girlfriends.
... Who all just happen to be superstars themselves.
Let's take a look back at Taylor's top seven besties of 2014.
Taylor's close friendship with Girls' star Lena Dunham also expanded to include working with Lena's boyfriend, musician Jack Antonoff. The two worked together on multiple songs from 1989 -- including the hit "Out of the Woods" -- while Lena and Taylor continued to bond over their mutual love of cats. Check out this adorable necklace Lena gave Taylor -- which Taylor recently called her "new most cherished possession" -- for her 25th birthday.
6. Emma Stone:
Despite their super-busy schedules this year, the two managed to maintain their seven-year friendship with Emma making time to attend Taylor's star-studded Fourth of July party in Rhode Island with boyfriend Andrew Garfield in tow. Taylor recently gushed over Emma's Cabaret performance, which she witnessed firsthand two weeks ago. "Got to see Emma KILL IT in Cabaret last night! Every new project she takes on is even more excellent than her last and it has inspired me since the day I met her 7 years ago," she wrote.
5. Sarah Hyland:
Taylor continued her close friendship with the Modern Family star, particularly after Sarah's not-so-friendly breakup with her longtime boyfriend Matthew Prokop. "The whole team at @therealsarahhyland's 24th birthday soirée last night," Taylor posted in November.
4. Ed Sheeran:
Taylor always looks out for her besties. Case in point? Securing her former tour-mate Ed Sheeran a coveted spot performing at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in December.
She also posted a sweet birthday message to Taylor on her Tumblr, calling her a "sister." "Today one of my sisters turns 25," Lorde wrote. "Sure, she isn’t a reeeal sister, and I haven't known her thaaat long, but it feels like forever -- together, we've navigated our respective crazy years in work, in love, in friendship, and in growing up. I feel so lucky being part of this amazing circle of girls who are there for each other, dancing without inhibition, laughing for hours, and killing it at work, and we're pretty much all here 'cause of her. What I'm trying to say is, she's magic."
2. Karlie Kloss:
Whether it's Taylor sitting on Karlie's lap at the American Music Awards or the two holding hands at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the two statuesque beauties weren't shy about showing their obvious support and love for one another this year. In her much talked-about Rolling Stone profile in September, Taylor even revealed that she had a room decorated in her New York home just for Karlie when she stays over, which included a basket of the model's favorite Whole Foods treats as well as pictures of her on the wall.
1. Selena Gomez:
Taylor rekindled her sometimes rocky relationship with Selena Gomez this year, specifically after the former Disney star split with her on-again/off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. Just how deep does their friendship go? Taylor was spotted crying after Selena's emotional performance of "The Heart Wants What It Wants" at the American Music Awards, while Selena cheered Taylor on when she took home the biggest honor of the night at the annual award show.
"[Taylor] just kind of looked at me and was like, 'Selena, if you're the smartest person in the room, I think you're going to be in the wrong room,'" Selena remembered. "She thinks I should constantly surround myself with people who are going to make me better, that are going to challenge and motive me. It kind of stuck to me. I want to surround myself with those people."
We're also giving honorary BFF mentions to Jaime King, Hailee Steinfeld, Ellie Goulding, and Taylor's latest gal pal -- Beyonce!
