Anna Faris explains why her husband may not be at the awards show she's hosting.

Anna Faris is co-hosting the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards, but her husband Chris Pratt may not be there to support her.

The couple has a 2-year-old son named Jack, who, according to Faris, has an upcoming medical appointment.

"I want my husband to come with me, but I also want to walk the red carpet with Alison, Fair told ET. "Our sweet son, on a more serious note, is having eye surgery so he may be at home with him, but I'd love to see him."

The comedian did laugh with ET Canada about her husband saying. "He is intimidating. Sometimes I just want him to stay at home. My movie star husband!"

Even though her husband will be stuck with daddy duty, Faris will not find herself walking the red carpet alone. "I am going to walk the red carpet with my co-star, co-host Allison Janney," Faris says of her Mom and Golden Globe-nominated co-star.

The surgery news comes two years after Jack was born premature at 3 pounds and 12 ounces. At the time, the doctors told the couple that Jack may need cosmetic surgery to correct his eyes and that he might have special needs.

Faris told GQ in the outtakes of Pratt's December Man of the Year interview, the news was "devastating," but they knew they could face the challenges ahead. "[I]t also felt like, you know, 'We can do this.'" Faris said.

During the March of Dimes Celebration of Babies on Dec. 5, the Guardians of the Galaxy star also opened up about how their adorable son is doing, "Our Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, smart, happy, funny, beautiful boy who loves monster trucks and Daniel Tiger, and, believe it or not, loves vegetables."
