Eminem paid a surprise visit to a terminally ill teenage fan, fulfilling his dying wish hours before he died.

Seventeen-year-old cancer patient Gage Garmo's last wish was to meet his favorite artist, Eminem, face to face. In an effort to facilitate the meeting, Garmo's friends and family started a social media campaign to get the word out to the celebrated rapper.

Michigan-based organization The Rainbow Connection, a charity that works toward fulfilling the last wishes of children with life threatening illnesses, caught wind of the campaign and managed to set up a meeting within a day.

The 42-year-old rap star and Michigan native surprised Garmo at his home on Sunday, where the two talked for several hours, according to the Detroit Free Press, who first reported on the story.

"We're so glad we were able to reach Eminem's people and they were able to respond, and Eminem was able on such short notice to go and see this boy in his own home," Rainbow Connection's executive director Mary Grace McCarter told the paper.

"Gage sat up with a grin on his face," The Rainbow Connection's Ingrid Todt, who was on hand during the meet, said. "His family hadn't seen their son do that in such a long time."
