'Scream' Series to Debut First Trailer During MTV Movie Awards

We're finally getting our first look at MTV's TV adaptation of the slasher film franchise.

The first look at MTV’s Scream
series is finally here! The network announced that Bella Thorne (The DUFF) will be on hand to debut a new
trailer during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 12.

The TV adaptation will tell the story of a town stricken
with violence following a cyber-bullying incident that results in a brutal
murder. Haunted by a past killing spree and the threat of a new killer, a group
of teens must navigate life as friends, lovers, enemies and, targets of each
other’s suspicions.

Thorne will star as one of town’s terrorized teens, possibly
as the victim of the show’s initial murder. “I will re-enact the famous scene
of Drew Barrymore in the original series,” the actress said during a January Facebook

.

The rest of the cast -- comprised of several newcomers --
includes popular girl Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex
Taylor-Klaus, Arrow), computer geek
Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil, Sharknado), ferocious socialite Brooke (Carlson Young), and
mysterious new kid Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). The show’s adult stars feature The 4400’s Joel Gretsch as Sheriff Clark
Hudson and Tracy Middendorf (Mission Impossible:
III
).

that MTV was developing a TV series based on the popular Scream franchise back in 2013, the news was met with a lot of
bewildered excitement. How could it possibly work? But in recent months, new
details have outlined a potentially delicious fall series that will rival Ryan
Murphy’s Scream Queens on FOX.

Scream comes from
the minds of Jill Blotevogel (ABC Family’s Ravenswood)
and Jaime Paglia (Arrow).
