Knowles and Mussa have been friends and artistic partners for several years. Mussa is the project director for Saint Heron, Knowles' artistic and creative brand (as well as the name of her recent album). In addition, Mussa and Knowles co-own Exodus Goods, a boutique in New Orleans' French Quarter.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Christophe and Mussa got into a fight outside of a mutual friend's house. Christophe claimed Mussa was yelling at her and began to punch her, so she grabbed a small folding knife and started to swing it around. Police arrested Christophe at the scene Wednesday night as Mussa was rushed to a hospital.

At the hospital, Mussa underwent several surgeries and remains in critical condition as of Friday.

Upon hearing the news, Knowles left Los Angeles to be by Mussa's side in New Orleans. She canceled a DJ gig near Coachella to be with her longtime friend.

Her rep confirmed to ETonline: "[Knowles] was set to DJ a party taking place during Coachella, but was not booked for the actual Coachella festival. She did cancel that as she flew to New Orleans immediately upon hearing the news and has been with Armina and Armina's family at the hospital since."
