Elizabeth Banks Talks Early Auditioning Days With Tara Reid: 'We Didn't All Make It'

Hollywood Reporter

Elizabeth Banks is counting her blessings.

The Hunger Games actress recently talked to The Hollywood Reporter about her enviable Hollywood career, which now includes directing the highly anticipated Pitch Perfect 2. Forty-one years old, Banks acknowledged how hard it is for actresses once they reach a certain age -- and even reminisced about her surprising competition in the earlier days.

"There was a group of us girls coming up. A lot of us are surviving. Some of us are not," she told the magazine bluntly. "I used to go to auditions with Tara Reid. So, you know, we didn't all make it. We're not all still here."

"[But] I do love Sharknado," she added, obviously attempting to soften the dig at the 39-year-old American Pie actress.

But Banks can definitely attribute her longevity in Hollywood -- she's played more than 70 different characters -- to the fact that she never stops learning on set.

"I don't stay in my trailer," she shared. "I like to sit in video village, probably to the annoyance of some producers and directors, because they really love to talk about actors and they can't in front of me."

She admitted that the pressure is on for the Pitch Perfect sequel to deliver, given the 2012 surprise hit's amazing success.

"The list of women who get to make studio-level films is very short," she said. "And I'm not quite in that club yet. Until this movie comes out, then we'll see. This shoot is the test. I like to get A's."
