Here's a rare Janet Jackson sighting that's sure to excite her fans!

The 49-year-old "Rhythm Nation" singer was snapped at her rehearsal studio in Los Angeles, Calif. on Thursday, where she's currently preparing for her highly anticipated world tour. Earlier this month, Janet announced she'll be debuting new music and embarking on a world tour in 2015.

Dressed in all-black workout clothes, Janet was no doubt working hard at rehearsals. The notoriously private star was also in a good mood, smiling for the camera.

Janet's been spotted rehearsing in Los Angeles since May 16, a source tells ET. She's also clearly filming some type of video, judging by the camerawoman following her around.

"Many people were going in and out of the studio, making sure every time that the door was locked," the source says about Janet tightly guarding her new project. Still, the source also notes that the superstar is "really, really low key," and that only one bodyguard or assistant goes with her at a time.

Janet dropped the bombshell about her new music and tour just a day before her 49th birthday.

"I promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will," she said in a cryptic video. "This year, new music, new world tour, a new movement. I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going."

Her last studio album, Discipline, was released in February 2008.
