Bobbi Kristina Brown’s family gathered at the Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta on Friday night as they made final preparations for a private memorial service Saturday morning. The only daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown died on July 26 at age 22.
The service, which will be a private ceremony restricted to a guest list of family and close friends, will take place Saturday at 11:00 am EST at the St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, about an hour and a half from downtown Atlanta.
On Friday, flowers were delivered to the church, and across town a tent was erected and plants and furniture wheeled into the garden of the Houston family home where closest friends and family will gather after the service.
The Houston and Brown families attended the wake separately. Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother and aunt Cissy and Pat Houston were spotted entering the funeral home Friday afternoon and father Bobby Brown arrived later with his wife Alicia Etheredge.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, family, friends, and fans make donations to The Marion P. Foundation, a teen charity founded by Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston. The nonprofit foundation includes the Teen Summit Academy, whose stated mission is "to reach our youth through positive events and activities as well as build lasting relationships with them that will strengthen our community and future generations."
