EXCLUSIVE: Jennifer Carpenter Welcomes First Baby With Fiance Seth Avett

Actress Jennifer Carpenter is officially a mom!

The 35-year-old former Dexter star exclusively confirmed the big news to ET on Monday at the CBS TCAs, when she dished about bringing her baby with fiance Seth Avett on the Limitless set with her.

Jennifer stars in the new fall thriller based on the 2011 big-screen hit, centering on struggling twentysomething Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who takes a mysterious drug which allows him to manipulate his cognitive abilities and "become the smartest person in the world."

"Well [McDorman's] done the heavy lifting with the action scenes, but I get to bring the little one to work so that's amazing to go from, like, this world [points to Jake] to this world [mimes holding a baby]," she said. "It creates a lot of balance. I'm lucky -- very lucky."

Jennifer's rep confirmed she was engaged to Seth, who's a member of the band The Avett Brothers, in February. She was actually already eight and a half months pregnant when she shot the Limitless pilot in April.

"I was also eight and a half months pregnant when we shot, so I feel like I was walking on set going, 'Are you sure I'm supposed to be here?'" she admitted to ET. "But there were such heavy hitters, from the production team to Bradley [Cooper] being a part of it, and the movie having been something I really enjoyed. ... The transition from going from something where I was dealing with someone who never had a reason to smile [her role as Debra Morgan on Dexter] to now I'm on a set where I'm holding back laughter and hoping that I don't mess up a take and slow us down, it's a lot of fun."

Jennifer and Seth have been dating since June 2013. She was previously married to her Dexter co-star, Michael C. Hall, before splitting in 2011 after three years of marriage. The new parents were snapped shopping in West Hollywood, California on Saturday, the actress wearing her engagement ring.
