Jim Carrey's girlfriend, Cathriona White, was found dead of an apparent suicide at her Sherman Oaks, California, residence on Monday night.

"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," the 53-year-old actor said in a statement to ET. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

The tragic news comes just weeks after the couple had traveled together to Canada, Jim's native country, in early September.

"Woot woot, passport renewal arrived today," the Tippenary, Ireland native wrote on Instagram in August prior to accompanying the comedian to Bancroft, Ontario. (Jim has family in the area and visits his relatives there at least once a year.) "Just in the nick of time thanks to San Francisco Irish consulate for putting and extra speedy rush on it."

While on their trip, Cathriona took many beautiful photos, which she and Jim shared on social media. Here are some of the pictures from their trip.

What gorgeous photos.

This shot of Jim's hiking boots is the only photo with Jim that Cathriona shared on her social media, as she kept her relationship with the actor very private.

Jim tweeted out some of the photos, captioning one, "Your true self is unfathomably immense, and I mean that as a compliment."

"This is who I really am and that's my body in the middle," the actor wrote for another.

Our thoughts are with Cathriona's family and loved ones.
