Demi Lovato Poses Fully Nude, Makeup-Free in Emotionally Raw Photos

Demi Lovato is definitely feeling more "confident" these days than ever.

The 23-year-old singer shocked her fans on Friday, when Vanity Fair released photos from her "spontaneous" photoshoot with photographer Patrick Ecclesine, in which she's fully nude. Demi's also makeup-free in the shockingly intimate photos, which are unretouched.

Taking a cue from Kim Kardashian, Demi stares at the camera while baring her butt in one shot, and also holds up a camera while lounging nude on her stomach in another.

Demi's currently promoting her new album, Confident, and the former Disney star says nothing could possibly show her state of mind better than the raw photoshoot that initially wasn't planned. Demi was emotionally drained at the time, the magazine explains, with her great-grandfather, Buddy Moore, having just died the day before.

"If there's one thing I've learned in the past day, it's that life is too short. I'm about to launch an album that finally represents who I truly am," Demi says. "How do I embrace this new chapter in my life? How do I really walk the walk? What does it mean to be confident? It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don't give a f**k and this is who I am."

"What if we do a photo shoot where it's totally raw?" she explains. "Super-sexy, but no makeup, no fancy lighting, no retouching, and no clothing. Let's do it here, let's do it now."

When ET caught up with the "Cool for the Summer" singer at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards in late August, Demi stressed that she's more confident than she's ever been before.

"The album is called 'Confident,'" she explained, "and I wanted something that was going to best represent the album title, where I'm at today and the music. I've never been more confident in my life and it was the perfect album title."

And it clearly shows. Demi's been sporting racier looks as of late, most recently, posing topless with a banana for Complex magazine.
