Adele's '25' Will Reportedly Not Be Available On Streaming Services

Don't go looking for the new Adele album on Spotify or Apple Music.
When the singer's insanely anticipated new album drops on Friday on Columbia Records in the U.S. (and XL Records almost everywhere else), it will not be available on streaming sites, according to The New York Times. Representatives for Adele had no comment.
This isn't an out of character move for an ungodly-famous-mega-artist-who-is-uniquely-able-to-make-decisions-like-this, as Taylor Swift pulled all of her music off of Spotify last year, and threatened to do the same for Apple Music unless they met her demands of paying artists during their initial free trial period.
When Adele's "Hello" video dropped in October, it trounced Taylor Swift's staggering "Bad Blood" Vevo record with over 27.7 million views in 24 hours. The singer is performing on Saturday Night Live this Saturday, and her album will be available with special exclusive bonus tracks at Target.
“We fully expect this to be one of our best-selling albums ever,” said Lee Henderson, a spokesman for Target told The New York Times.
While this appears to be the latest development in the music industry's heated debate over how best to incorporate the streaming model to best serve fans, artists, and producers alike, the real loser here is all of us who were counting on a couple really solid Adele 25 cry-jams on our New Year's playlists.
