"Tomorrow this #AvaBarbie goes on sale for Christmas because enough folks asked @Mattel to do so. Wild + wonderful," DuVernay wrote.
Following Variety magazine’s Power of Women Luncheon earlier this year, Mattel released one-of-kind dolls of a few female celebs including Kristen Chenoweth, Eva Chen and DuVernay.
DuVernay version was so well-received, the company decided to release it to be sold in stores.
News of the lastest Barbie has caught the attention of many, including actress Kerry Washington, who responded “AWESOME” to a tweet about its release.
