Thornton has been sharing memories on her Instagram page over the last week, writing on one pic that she and her sons are “learning to live one day at a time” in the wake of Carney’s tragic death.
“He was THE BEST father my children could ever have, an incredibly loving and sensitive husband, a wonderful brother and amazing son,” Thornton captioned a picture of the couple on their wedding day. “Thank you for your continued prayers for our family as we grieve the loss of my best friend Chris, the most incredible person I've ever had the blessing of knowing.”
Carney, star of the MTV reality show twentyfourseven, was killed in a single-vehicle car crash on U.S. Highway 70 East approximately six miles east of Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he resided. Carney's mother, Ruth, is mayor of the town. The late father of two was 35 years old.
In another photo of Carney with his sons, which Thornton posted the day after his death, the actress called her late husband simply, “My life. My love. My angel.”
