Report: Orlando Bloom Deported From India After Visa Debacle
By Sophie Schillaci
Orlando Bloom's latest visit to India did not exactly go as planned.
According to a report from India's The Economic Times, the actor was deported upon arrival at the Delhi airport on Saturday after his e-visa was allegedly rejected. Bloom was reportedly invited to India by UP CM Akhilesh Yadav to promote tourism.
The situation reportedly turned even more uncomfortable, as Bloom was said to be suffering from a stomach illness at the time. "Orlando requested the officer to allow him some time to sort out the issue since he also had a stomach bug. The doctor on duty was summoned to attend to him but soon after, he was asked to leave," producer Sheetal Talwar, who worked on Bloom's film Romans, told The Economic Times. "The officers also threatened that the flight wouldn't leave unless he was on it."
Entertainment Tonight has reached out to Bloom's rep for comment.
According to the report, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj became involved in the situation and Bloom's visa was granted, only after he had already been returned to the U.K. Bloom reportedly returned to India on Sunday morning and visited the Taj Mahal later that day.
