Taylor Swift Warned Kanye West About 'Misogynistic Message' in 'Famous' Track

The singer's rep says Swift had no idea that she was mentioned in the song.

Taylor Swift's publicist says that despite a recent report, Kanye West did not speak with the 26-year-old singer about  name checking her in his new song.

"Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single 'Famous' on her Twitter account," her rep said in a statement to ET. "She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, 'I made that b**ch famous.'"

The 38-year-old rapper debuted his latest album, The Life of Pablo, at his Yeezy Season 3 fashion show on Thursday, and one track alluded to his infamous moment with Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

"I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex," West rapped. "I made that b**ch famous."

"Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, 'I made that b**ch famous,'" her rep said.

West's song comes almost exactly a year after he reconciled with Swift  at the 2015 GRAMMY Awards, which subsequently sparked rumors that they would be collaborating on new music.

"We've never been in a studio together," Swift told ET in April. "But he's got a lot of amazing ideas."

While Swift has kept mum on social media about West's lyric, her friends and family have not. Gigi Hadid, who attended the Yeezy show, tweeted: "My attendance somewhere does not mean I agree with everything being said in the music playing there. My friends know of my loyalty."

Jaime King also posted: "I'm so sad right now and disappointed right now. I stand by my sister. Always."

Orange Is the New Black
star Ruby Rose later tweeted: "And now my dear friend Taylor.. Right before another huge moment for her.. Can I still support him and call myself a feminist? A friend? No."

Swift's brother, Austin, took it a step further and shared a video of his Yeezy shoes going in the trash. "Getting a head start on some spring cleaning. Here we go again," he captioned the post.

Swift's boyfriend, Calvin Harris, and her bestie, Selena Gomez, both liked the video on Instagram.
