Sarah Michelle Gellar is ditching her blonde locks -- because it’s so good to be bad!

Just after announcing that she would be reprising her role as the villainous Kathryn Merteuil in NBC’s Cruel Intentions pilot, she has returned to the dark side -- with her hair, that is.

On Friday she took to Instagram to tease fans with a quick peek at her new 'do, captioning the post, "What is happening????"

A few hours later she revealed the full look -- and we love it!

"#brownhairdontcare (actually kind of love it!!) thank you everyone @andylecomptesalon," she wrote on the headshot.

The new series will follow the Cruel Intentions plotline, just 15 years later. It will focus on Bash Casey, the son of Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe from the original film) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon) as he unveils his father’s legacy from his journals!
