It looks like Vanessa Hudgens likes to get playful on her dates.

The 27-year-old actress was spotted out in New York City on Thursday, enjoying a fun night at the theater with her beau, Austin Butler. The happy couple was joined by Hudgens’ Grease: Live co-star, Julianne Hough, as they walked hand-in-hand to see the Broadway smash, Hamilton.

An eyewitness tells ET that Hudgens and Butler were “happy” and “affectionate” as they entered the Richard Rodgers Theatre just before the curtain went up.

The High School Musical alum kept her all-black attire simple, and donned a fitted sweater, trousers and booties. She paired the outfit with a floor-length wool coat and a silver necklace.

Meanwhile, Butler wore jeans and a T-shirt, which he layered with a plaid top and a blue coat.

Hudgens and Hough were lucky enough to go backstage and share a few laughs with the show’s star, Lin-Manuel Miranda, with Hudgens later posting a pic of the encounter.

"@juleshough and I saw @hamiltonmusical last night. Turns out Lin-Manuel is a fan of @gogrease haha. That man is a GENIUS," she captioned a photo with the actor, who donned a “T-birds” jacket.

Miranda also shared a photo of the “pink ladies” cheesing with Tommy Kail, the director of Hamilton.

"I leave you with Tommy Kail & the Pink Ladies. Gnight!" he wrote.

Hudgens, who is no stranger to Broadway, having made her debut on the Great White Way in Gigi last year, has been spending time in New York while she takes a break from filming Powerless in Vancouver.

Butler dished to ET in August about how he and Hudgens have kept their relationship strong after dating for five years.

"It’s important to put that other person first," the 24-year-old former Carrie Diaries star said. "If you're constantly looking for ways that you can make them happy, and they're constantly looking for ways that they can make you happy, then you kind of lift each other up as much as possible and you can’t go wrong."

Recently, Hudgens has had to lean on her boyfriend more than ever. The Spring Breakers star’s father, Greg, died on Jan. 30 after battling stage 4 cancer. His death occurred just one day before she performed as Rizzo in Grease: Live on Fox in January.
