Kit Harington Explains Why He Auditioned for 'Game of Thrones' With a Black Eye
By John Boone
Kit Harington inadvertently proved that he could handle the worst Game of Thrones had to throw his way when he showed up to his audition with a black eye.
"I'd been in a fight the night before," he recalled to W Magazine. Even better: he got in that fight at a McDonald's!
"I went into the McDonalds with the girl I was sort of dating at the time. It was late at night and there were no seats," Jon Snow himself, revealed. "I asked this guy and this girl he was with if we could sit at the same table as them and they said, 'Yes.'"
"We sat down and quite quickly he started being really rude to the girl I was with, calling her names," Harington continued. "He called her something like, an ugly pig or something worse, and I got up and said, 'No, no, no. You can't call her that. Get up.'"
The 29-year-old actor claimed it was the first time he'd ever challenged someone to a fight and, because the other man had been seated, Harington didn't realize how big he actually was.
"I had to throw the first punch, otherwise I'd look like a complete wimp and I got battered," he explained. "So, then I went to the Jon Snow audition with a black eye."
He added with a laugh, "I think that man who punched me may have helped me get the job. So, if you're watching this, thank you!"
Harington also discussed Snow's season six fate and shared a funny story about shooting that infamous scene where he comes back from the dead.
"Because I was lying down for so many hours for two whole episodes, I fell asleep in the middle of a scene," he said. "And [I] woke up and, you know when you wake up and you don't know quite where you are? There's nothing scarier than waking up in the middle of Game of Thrones world."
Jon Snow's big return wasn't the only shocking moment this season: The season six finale seriously upped the death count in Westeros and revealed a game-changing twist! Relieve the most insane moments in the video below!
