EXCLUSIVE: Gabby Douglas Sits Out VMAs After 'Allergic Reaction' Lands Her in Hospital

Douglas was grinning from ear to ear when she was photographed hanging out in Los Angeles on Thursday, proving that she's indeed "doing OK" after an "allergic reaction" forced her to skip this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

The gold medalist was seen rocking jeans and a T-shirt with dark lipstick, as she had a few laughs with friends while standing on a balcony.

The gymnast was originally scheduled to appear at the VMAs with her Final Five teammates, but pulled out at the last minute.

"She had an allergic reaction, but she's doing OK," teammate Aly Raisman revealed to ET on the VMAs carpet on Sunday. "Something was a little swollen on her face. They're having her rest, just in case."

Later that night, Douglas Instagrammed a pic from bed with the caption, "Out of the hospital & resting comfortably!" and a shout out to the Final Five. "So sad I can't be with u all to present tonite [sic]," she wrote with a sad face emoji.

On Wednesday, Douglas posted an update explaining how she ended up in the hospital. "Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I'm doing ok! I had a complication from a prior injury that caused a cyst to grow on a bone in my mouth," she shared. "Got it removed and feeling much better now! Thanks for all your concerns and prayers and HUGE thank you to the doctors that have taken care of me these last four days!"

With the health scare finally over, Douglas can continue celebrating the Final Five's Olympic dominance in Rio last month. Find out what's next for the group in the video below.
