EXCLUSIVE: Inside Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer's Split: 'They Both Had Changed'

Tobey Maguire's separation from Jennifer Meyer may have come as shock to fans, but a source close to the actor's wife of nine years tells ET that the couple's "marriage fell apart over the course of time."

The source says that the split "was not over anything specific or dramatic," but rather they "grew apart and realized they both had changed as people."

Maguire and Meyer's main concern is the well-being of their 9-year-old daughter Ruby, and 7-year-old son Otis. "They’re both great parents and their main focus right now is on Ruby and Otis," the source continues. "Tobey and Jen love those kids so much and will make sure their lives don’t change overnight."

On Tuesday morning, the couple released a joint statement to ET, saying that "after much soul searching and consideration," they had decided to "separate as a couple."

Another source told ET that the two are still good friends, and are "very supportive of each other and are committed to their kids."

"It’s a very amicable situation," said the source.

The 41-year-old actor and 39-year-old jewelry designer first met in 2003 and married four years later in Hawaii in front of a small group of friends and family.
