The couple, who began dating over a year ago, struck up a relationship months after each of them got divorced. Stefani split from her husband, and the father of her three sons, Gavin Rossdale, in August 2015. Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert announced their divorce the month prior.

However, the 47-year-old artist said the tragedy of her divorce allowed herself to grow creatively, and she credited her music for providing her an opportunity to express her pain and share her heart.

"I was so blessed to have music as an outlet and to be able to share my story and to get all that love. It was basically like giving and receiving of love all year long through music," Stefani explained. "It was just an incredible year for me and I'm so grateful."

Having time to deal with her turbulent love life, and the praise she's earned with her latest album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, has also given Stefani a whole new appreciation for where she is in life, and what she can accomplish.

"This year was like someone said, 'Hey, wake up!' and I was like, 'Whoa! Oh my god!' I thought I was seeing in color, but now I'm really seeing in color," she shared. "I didn't know I was in a cocoon ready to bust out."

In her speech during the event, Stefani shared her appreciation for her family and thanked Shelton for "kissing me back to life." Glamour shared a video of the event to their Facebook, where fans could watch the speeches. (Stefani's segment begins around the 1 hour, 46 minute mark.)
