Chris Soules has been released from jail and is breaking his silence about the car accident he was involved in that left one man dead.

According to police, the former star of The Bachelor -- who is from Arlington, Iowa -- was charged with fleeing the scene of a car collision on Monday night at 8:20 p.m.

Soules -- who appeared on season 19 of The Bachelor in 2015 and was also a contestant on Dancing With the Stars -- was arrested at 1:16 a.m. on Tuesday morning at his residence and spent the night behind bars. He was released from jail on $10,000 bail, which was posted by his mother, Linda, a spokesperson for the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to ET on Tuesday afternoon.

Police also noted that Soules must check in with a probation officer regarding his ankle bracelet monitor, and had to turn in his passport, as he was scheduled to film something out of the country that was Bachelor related.

Soules' rep, Stan Rosenfield, also released a statement to ET following his release from jail. "Chris Soules was involved in an accident on Monday evening, April 24, in a rural part of Iowa near his home," reads the statement. "He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher's family.”
