"My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I’m so happy. Finally," he wrote. "I love you, everyone and see you soon."

Zyrus became the first Asian solo singer in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart with the release of his record, Charice, in 2010. Appearances on Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres' talk shows -- with the former dubbing her "the most talented girl in the world" -- help catapult him to fame, and at just 16 years old, Zyrus performed a duet with her idol, Celine Dion, at Madison Square Garden.

In 2011, Zyrus had a guest-starring role on Glee as Sunshine Corazon, a foreign exchange student who develops a rivalry with Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).

Zyrus came out as lesbian in 2013, and in 2014, told Winfrey on Where Are They Now that "my soul is like a male."

"I'm not going to go through that stage where I change everything," Zyrus said. "I’ll cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything, but that’s all."
